Would you like to discover how digital experiences are created together in our teams at one of Germany's largest online retailers? Immerse yourself in the world of our UX design teams!
We'll introduce you to two UX teams: our B2B team of eleven and the B2C team of around 30. Four of our team members - Janina and Jiashan from B2B and Carina and Lennart from B2C - have given us exclusive insights into their day-to-day work. Find out how they work together on our digital offerings, what makes their collaboration unique and what really makes them tick as a team behind the scenes.
Lennart explains: "Imagine I'm like an architect for digital products. architect for digital products! I plan the structure so that everything makes sense, is easy to find and simply feels good. I make sure that people can find their way around the OTTO app or our website and quickly find what they're looking for."
Janina reports: "We not only design beautiful interfaces, but also delve deep into complex processes in order to develop efficient solutions. These are tested, further developed with user feedback and thus achieve measurable success. Adesigner is never really finished!"
Carina also appreciates the variety: "You're always learning something new - whether it's a new technical perspective, in-depth user insights through interviews or the development of the design itself with tools such as AI. There's no standing still here, so it never gets boring."
This is how Lennart describes his team in three words.
Janina emphasizes: "We bring together many creative minds - from strategists and design lovers to doers and dreamers. This diversity is what makes us special and ensures that we implement innovative ideas."
Jaishan told us: "We have weekly design sparring sessions for feedback and new ideas and attend design events together. We also have our Learning Day to try out new things and learn from each other. That's super inspiring!"
Carina explains: "For us, mistakes are not a setback, but an opportunity. Whether in the design - i.e. what we create - or in the work process, both are about reflecting, learning from them and adapting for the future. Designs that don't work are not bad results, but simply a new way of learning in order to take a design even further"
Lennart clearly identifies himself as "Team Late Riser" and smiles: "When other people's OTTO stomachs are already growling at 12 o'clock, I first have a shake for breakfast!"
"Definitely - with coffee!" says Janina. "I'm always tired in the morning and look forward to enjoying a delicious coffee before I take my dog for a walk."
Carina describes the start of the day as follows: "Find your seat, say hello, unpack your rucksack, get your coffee, then hurry back to your seat, jump into the Daily and check your appointments for the day!"
Jaishan explains: "First of all, I lock my bag and my bike helmet in the locker. Then I get myself a warm glass of water, check my seat in teams on Cody - our AI chatbot that helps with IT questions and daily seat bookings - and then I'm off!"
